Day 11 | Something Missing

Read: Luke 15:3–7

Key Verse: What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? -Luke 15:4

Jesus told the parable of the lost sheep to reveal the heart of God who rejoices when a wayward person comes to repentance. God does not write off lost ones, He pursues them.

We are to share God’s heart of compassion and concern for the least, the last, and the lost. It is more comfortable to hang out with those who are safely in the fold, but our Savior asks us to take the risk of venturing outside of our comfort zone to join Him in His quest to “seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)

The rewards are worth the risk. We can share in the rejoicing throughout heaven over one sinner who repents – celebrating not as an idle spectator, but as one who was used by God to make an eternal impact.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I was one of those lost sheep. I did not seek You and find You. You sought me. You came and rescued me. Thank You for caring about my eternal destiny. Give me Your heart of compassion for those who are outside of Your fold. Bolster my courage to take the risk to reach out to those who are facing a Christ-less eternity. Please use me to make an eternal impact for Jesus, in whose name I pray, Amen.
