Key Verse: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
It might be strange to think about God taking a “risk.” If risk is an action that exposes you to possibility of loss or injury, then God risks. God took a risk by sending His Son. I wonder what that moment was like when the Father sent His Son to this busted, broken world filled with busted, broken people. Were the streets of heaven lined with angels sending Jesus off with fanfare? Was it a quiet moment between Father and Son? Whatever our sanctified imaginations can come up with, there had to be that moment of emotion because the Father knew He was sending His only begotten Son to the cross.
We don’t live a life of risk to prove to God that we are worthy. We live a life of risk in response to God because He is worthy. He is the First Risk-Taker, and He took that risk by sending His Son.
Prayer: Father, thank You for taking the risk of sending Jesus to this world. You did it knowing what it would cost, and You still did it any way. I long for life in and with Jesus. Fill me today with His life through the Holy Spirit. Help me to be all in!
